The VHS Cassette Vignette consisted of a stack
of VHS VCRs, VHS Cassettes, a small black and white TV set and 12 framed
illustrations. The VCRs were stacked on top of each other to create a stand
for the Television. The VCRs included were models made in the 70s through
today. The small television played a 40-second loop that was an animated
diagram of the inner workings of a VCR which was overlaid on top of an old
claymation dinosaur film. Portions of the VHS technology was showcased through
the use of framed illustrations and text. The thrift store frames were used
to give a sense of family and home as VHS was the first widely accepted
form of Home Video. All but four of the frames had diagrams in them explaining
the different parts of VCR, the cassette and the magnetic tape found inside.
The other frames had milestones in the technology's history, which was explained
using cassette sticker labels. |
